Be A Global Citizen!

The seeds  of globalisation may well have been sown in the 3rd millennium BC when the advancements in the transportation modes saw human beings travelling to distant places in search of resources or business. So, as trade, commerce, culture and religion spread from one part of the world to another, the world got closer. This momentum took a giant leap in the 19th century as people left their homelands to travel to distant places for conquest and exploration.
We now live in a multi-cultural world. Religious, national, racial and ethnic outlook predominantly influences our life. We rightly or wrongly think that this is correct. Immigration accelerated the ethnic cultural and religious composition of several countries and led to multicultural societies. We have to accept it and adopt ourselves to the emerging reality. Let us interact with people of different cultures, races, and colors and tread on the path of peace and prosperity. As geograhical boundaries become weaker, our diversity will become a force to reckon with.
Internet will be pervasive and ubiquitous. Most people will have access at all time. Information technology will further enhance the way we see and understand the world around us.
The horrendous reality is that multinational corporations control one third of global GDP and 70% of trade. Its consequences will diminish the ability of the national states to manage their economy.  They have little choice but to give away their independence to the demands of globalisation.
If all nations were to use the same services enjoyed by developed nations, even the resources of earth may not be sufficient to meet the metal demands of future generations.
The current social, political and economic systems will crumble and in its place will emerge a new system.
Our present world is shrinking fast, distances are become shorter and shorter.  Think of a borderless world when we would be recognised as a citizen of this planet.  How we face the challenges collectively will determine the outcome.
Who does not want to be a global citizen?  Given a chance everyone will welcome it.  Let us accept that we are all human beings and earth belongs to  us. Ask your own conscience to show the way and you will be guided to liberate yourself from the mental and spiritual inertia.
Future is free. What we think collectively will determine our destiny.
Let us get inspired by the preceding generations, who fought unitedly against the forces of nature and imminent dangers. We have to come out of narrow outlook and see the mankind as one human race.
Collective wisdom will work wonders to take the civilizational achievements to a whole new level. There is no point in blaming the forces above or around us. Our will to rein the unpredictable future from catastrophy lies in our own hands.
