Save Our Mother Earth!

The veneration of earth as a mother and a Goddess began during the prehistoric times. This belief now prevails across the globe . However, in truth, worship is a substitute for inaction. What we see around us is a naked rape of earth's natural resources to support an extravagant life style!

However, a growing awareness has dawned on the minds of large sections of people after they witnessed  climatic changes and volatile natural calamities. The need is to spread this awareness to one and all that Mother Earth. We need to end this savage exploitation of natural resources and adopt a global outlook.

No unknown God can solve our problems. Only human will and action can! Therefore, we should act as global citizens and work together to resolve the problems.Confront the social, cultural and political problems squarely. Only that can only take us forward to find an ever-lasting solution.

We, the humans, citizens of this planet earth, are technologically and scientifically adept and intelligent to understand the inherent nature of every problem.

To begin with, let us meditate and accept earth as our motherland. It is better if we eschew calling the fragmented isolated nation-states as our motherland or fatherland. This awareness will enable us to identify the humans as one single family destined to be loved eternally on this planet.

Evolutionary process has leaped civilizational achievements and it is now possible to provide comfortable living conditions to the entire humanity. The tragedy is that we have become callous and selfish. We think about our own self and no consideration is given to the overwhelming billions of fellow citizens. Also remember that our Mother Earth provides us everything for preservation of life and sustainable living.

We rightly or wrongly think that endless consumption is the sign of modernity and aggressively deplete the natural resources. Pollution levels and human habitat will degrade and a time will come when we will not be able to support human civilization.

The life of humanity will be endangered by environmental degradation and it will lead to social conflicts. There is also an inevitable danger lurking due to mounting nuclear weapons and the consequent monumental  loss of vital environmental resources. Any national or international major or minor conflict may lead to mutual destruction.

Fossil fuel advanced technology based civilization may attain unimaginable and unpredictable levels. The gap between rich and poor will widen further. So, a fair distribution of wealth is needed. We urgently require sustainable economic development by all means. Let us think whether it is possible to sustain the present infinite growth into a finite world and if so how long.

Material resources are limited but human resources such as wisdom and our capacity for adoption is unlimited. It is time we think persistently and change our attitude for the good of everybody.

To establish and maintain good relations between human beings, we have to build solidarity on global basis.  Let us overcome the fear and arrest the lurking dangers. The will to preserve is often the difference between failure and success. Let us leave behind the competition for better and better products, but compete to become better and better human beings.

We don’t inherit the earth nor was it given to us by our parents. We are momentary living beings on this earth as all other species.  Let us leave behind a better foot print and preserve the earth for future generations.

Destiny of each individual largely depends on the socio-cultural and economic conditions we create. We now live in a globalized world. We are being influenced by the evolving values. We consciously or unconsciously become a part of the new world trend.

The eternal values of human brotherhood, compassion and love can only bring happiness. Remember, what we think and act now will determine the outcome of morrow. So, let's venerate Mother Earth in the truest sense of the term by preserving her rich bounties and bringing a halt to the mindless exploitation.

Amen!

Be A Global Citizen!

The seeds  of globalisation may well have been sown in the 3rd millennium BC when the advancements in the transportation modes saw human beings travelling to distant places in search of resources or business. So, as trade, commerce, culture and religion spread from one part of the world to another, the world got closer. This momentum took a giant leap in the 19th century as people left their homelands to travel to distant places for conquest and exploration.
We now live in a multi-cultural world. Religious, national, racial and ethnic outlook predominantly influences our life. We rightly or wrongly think that this is correct. Immigration accelerated the ethnic cultural and religious composition of several countries and led to multicultural societies. We have to accept it and adopt ourselves to the emerging reality. Let us interact with people of different cultures, races, and colors and tread on the path of peace and prosperity. As geograhical boundaries become weaker, our diversity will become a force to reckon with.
Internet will be pervasive and ubiquitous. Most people will have access at all time. Information technology will further enhance the way we see and understand the world around us.
The horrendous reality is that multinational corporations control one third of global GDP and 70% of trade. Its consequences will diminish the ability of the national states to manage their economy.  They have little choice but to give away their independence to the demands of globalisation.
If all nations were to use the same services enjoyed by developed nations, even the resources of earth may not be sufficient to meet the metal demands of future generations.
The current social, political and economic systems will crumble and in its place will emerge a new system.
Our present world is shrinking fast, distances are become shorter and shorter.  Think of a borderless world when we would be recognised as a citizen of this planet.  How we face the challenges collectively will determine the outcome.
Who does not want to be a global citizen?  Given a chance everyone will welcome it.  Let us accept that we are all human beings and earth belongs to  us. Ask your own conscience to show the way and you will be guided to liberate yourself from the mental and spiritual inertia.
Future is free. What we think collectively will determine our destiny.
Let us get inspired by the preceding generations, who fought unitedly against the forces of nature and imminent dangers. We have to come out of narrow outlook and see the mankind as one human race.
Collective wisdom will work wonders to take the civilizational achievements to a whole new level. There is no point in blaming the forces above or around us. Our will to rein the unpredictable future from catastrophy lies in our own hands.

Unity of Humanity!

After billions of years of evolution, life on earth has arrived. We, the Homo sapiens, evolved some 2, 00,000 to 4, 50,000 years ago.  Modern human beings migrated from Africa and spread over to Asia, and subsequently Europe and other countries.  Research has proved beyond doubt that humans are genetically the same.  In other words we have a common background and all our racial prejudices are misplaced and not at all relevant.

Unity of humanity largely depends on what we, the enlightened citizens, think and act collectively to overcome  the current problems that we face. To arrive at a definite workable solution, all those who truly feel the urgency, should come together and dispassionately discuss it. We have evolved over a period of time and developed certain social, economic, political and cultural values which we think rightly or wrongly as unquestionable.

Without doubt, all will admit that we have distorted views of what life is all about and what would give us a happy and satisfactory life. We are obsessed by greed and overlook whether the technology led civilisation will sustain us on a long term basis. Our zealous passion for comfort and luxury at the cost of depriving the elementary needs of billions of people sans any guilt pangs is highly deplorable.

Some soul searching within each one of us with compassion and love for the planetary citizens will definitely help individually and collectively.  All sections of people irrespective of national, religious and racial prejudice should come together to find a solution.

As per the expert survey, we have exhausted much of the available resources and we would not be able to sustain the prevailing standard of high standard of life as we desire. There is a systemic erosion of ecosystem. The emissions of greenhouse gases are causing  growing global warming. Its consequences will endanger the very life of future generations.

Stockpiles of nuclear weapons and the ever growing trend of adding more weapons to one's military stock will end in an unimaginable situation of total destruction of earth and its species. We cannot rule out such an eventuality as there is no attempt to reduce or eliminate such inhuman weapons.

Scarcity of natural resources such as clean air, water, land, food will also lead to violent confrontation within nations and war between nations.

We know we have already reached a high level of 7 billion people and by 2050; it would touch 10 billion.  Can we imagine such a worst predicament?

We are ready to shed our blood for God, but are we ready to think over the present unpredictable situations when humanity will cease to an end.  We do not think over the future and  believe that God above will find a solution.

We can definitely avoid such an uncertain future and take remedial solution now. The unity of humanity  in resolving the frightening unpredictable plight of humanity is what is the need of the hour!

Soul of Life

There is a wide spread belief among vast majority of people that a soul is sent on the planet by God that outlives a mortal life and can’t defeat even death.  This notion that probably came from the religious teachings (considered as unsubstantiated truth) is actually creating multiple problems to its adherents.

On dispassionate thinking under scientific scrutiny, it has been proved beyond anyone’s doubt that neither does a soul enter into a newly-born baby nor does it depart when one life’s  comes to an end.

Can anyone who contests the above statement tell what a soul is made of?  While one can passionately argue and attempt to defend his false beliefs as absolute truth, it takes but a little common sense to conclude that all of this is but a figment of imagination that is largely influenced by a staunch belief in religion.

You can’t blame or praise the God for perpuating the idea of a cyclic karma (that is supposed to give birth to souls in the first place).  For it is not He who guides your life on earth. All events have a cascading effect-good or bad. And it is those events alone that affect the quality of your life.

In most of religions texts, the mere name of God is personified as sublime love that took life on earth to save the humanity. The essence of all Godly teachings exhorts the importance of pure love and care for the humanity. There are billions of people, who believe in God, worship him and engage in all rituals and prayers but do they really follow the meaning of religion? Even if a fraction of humanity would have really followed these principles, the world would have been a paradise!

Prayers, rites, and ceremonies are not a substitute for your own internal growth to become a better human being. We ignore the cardinal question of what is fundamentally wrong with us in our approach to the external world.  We are steeped in our own fantasies and cling to our prejudices. We are part of the ocean of vast humanity and our actions, communications, verbal or nonverbal affect the humanity. We accept ancient fables and superstitions of past. These old beliefs accompanied by endless ceremony and rituals only reinforce our false notions.

Have we ever thought how the soul which can’t be characterised by any yardstick enters and departs and again re-enter in one’s body? Death is pronounced the moment we cease to breath any more. It is an organic death and decay. If we try to understand any one will be convinced that our beliefs have no basis.  Let us concentrate on our journey of life from birth to death. We wrongly believe that a non-existing entity influences us and our life is preordained. This fatalistic outlook destroys our own life.

Trust you are Godly and discover it within yourself. Fear-based doctrines have nothing to do with God. The faith in God, external or internal makes you more loving, bold, fearless, kind and humble and you treat everyone as your brother and sister.  There is no question of discrimination on the basis of religion, since it is an institutionalized belief system which has its self-interest to perpetuate. The world would be a different one when we turn the search lights inwards and promise that we will not curse, abuse or implore to be blessed.

We are complex carbon life form evolved over billions of years from cosmic dust. There is no supernatural being but natural bounties. Life is a fleeting moment. From cradle to grave it is an endless quest to discover the potential existing within each one of us. Blend your rational and spiritual self and see the world and its species, including humanity as an indivisible entity since we will live and prosper only by realising this simple truth!

Welcome!

We live in a world of complete isolation from the rest of humanity. We rightly or wrongly believe that whatever we learn and follow is unquestionable truth. We argue, fight and are willing to lay down our sacred lives for whatever we believe as absolute. It is only when we attempt to understand this stand dispassionately, we will realise our follies.

The expansion of our mind will help us express our oneness with global community. The more sincerely and intentionally we promote the very cause of building enduring relations, the growing misunderstanding ingrained in our mind will diminish gradually and we will be able to strengthen our relations as a natural way of seeing, feeling and acting. This will lead to greater happiness as we grow as intelligent and matured human beings.

History is replete with examples of leading religious and social reformers who appealed to the warring groups to shed their rigid selves and embrace a global outlook.  What is lacking more than ever in our human existence is pure love or compassion to fellow beings. It is only if we free ourselves from the secluded mind-set and extend our warmth and friendship, we will become more matured and ready to accept each other as fellow citizens of the world.

Don’t you think that we are all responsible to whatever is happening on a global scale and that a new change can be brought about? Everyone is capable of experiencing this change of heart since positive thoughts bring renewed relations!

Let us make a beginning now! The journey will be an exploration of human frontiers which will enrich our mundane life with a new experience.
